Overview
Our lab is interested in the mechanisms of membrane organization and homeostasis in both health and disease. As a relay for the sorting and transfer of materials, information and form, membranes bustle with activity. We are interested in:
- How a small family of lipid molecules plays a central role in organizing the multitude of membrane activities
- How control of these lipids' synthesis is coupled to the control of membrane composition as a whole
- How changes in the lipids' metabolism are driven by genetic and infectious diseases - and eventually, how these might be corrected as a means of prevention or cure.
We primarily tackle these questions by combining state-of-the-art imaging and molecular genetic approaches to probe membranes in single, living cells.
